Finding good financial help is one of the most challenging tasks in becoming a little bit wealthy. Make sure anyone providing you with financial advice or financial services is a fiduciary and signs a fiduciary pledge. If they refuse, walk away.
Here is an example of a fiduciary pledge.
The Fiduciary Pledge
I promise to act in the best interests of my clients and operate in good faith as a fiduciary at all times.
I will disclose of any potential conflicts of interest between myself or my firm, and our clients, and will always place my clients’ best interests first.
I will act prudently, with the skill, care, and conscientiousness of a licensed financial professional.
I will not mislead my clients in any way.
I will not pay or provide compensation for client referrals.
I will not receive incentives or rewards that impair my ability to act in a fair and impartial manner or that compromise the integrity and impartiality of the advice I provide to clients.
This fiduciary pledge covers all services provided by (name of firm) _____________________.
